A very charming event

There are only a few dates of the year that are so incredible they leave deep, marvelous marks in my memory. For me, March 19 is Paulo Coelho’s day, when the author, whose most famous novel is The Alchemist,  honors Saint Joseph with a big celebration, each year in a different location around the world. Prayer, faith, friendship, art and music meet in this special gathering, giving life to the most memorable party.

This March, Paulo invited 120 of his close friends to Fortaleza de Guincho a Cascais, near Lisbon, in Portugal. In the years past, he had organized the parties in Turkey, Italy, Greece, France, Spain. This year, he also celebrated the launch of his new book, "Adultery" with a press conference for journalists who came from all over the world. 

The strength of these celebrations is the unique way in which Paulo makes these days special to all his friends by transmitting a strong feeling of hope and unity. These sentiments stay with his guests for a while, even after they go to back to their everyday lives.

In a world dominated by glamour and luxury, spending a day with Paulo is a true ‘Spa for the Spirit’. After months of fashion weeks and similar events, participating in this party regenerates peoples’ souls, leaving them to look at the world with different eyes. It really stresses how the real meaning of life is more about friendship, hope and sharing than empty values.

This year, the essence of his message was felt strongly, especially because of a gift Paulo offered us. He organized a screening of the film inspired by his life, “Não Pare na Pista” which tells the story of his incredible adventures and his capacity to touch peoples’ souls. The movie’s name is the same as the one of a song by Paulo e Raul Seixas (famous 70s Brazilian singer) and translates to “always on the move.” Paulo, in fact, has always stood up for life and been strong in difficult moments. 

The movie tells the story of his early years (before he became a writer) through the narrative of his difficult relationship with his family. It also elaborates on the building of his strong character and his values of dreams and friendship. The film captures this big story and a great man who always managed to learn from his experiences and follow his ideas. His firm belief humanity is perhaps Paulo’s strongest value, which comes out in every one of his works, his speeches, his actions—all of which I could never do without.

For me, listening to his speeches, in different languages, with his soothing tone of voice and his delicate way of talking about every subject is a great cure for the soul.

Il fascino di una festa speciale.Fra i giorni che si ripetono nell’anno, ne esistono alcuni cosi’ magici e intensi che incidono nella mia memoria solchi profondi, indelebili e meravigliosi.

Il 19 Marzo di ogni anno e’ sempre il giorno di Paulo Coelho, quello in cui, in un luogo sempre diverso del mondo, San Giuseppe viene celebrato con una festa particolare in cui preghiera, fede, amicizia, arte e musica, si fondono in qualcosa di molto suggestivo.

Quest’anno Paulo ci ha invitato insieme ai suoi 120 amici in Portogallo, a Fortaleza de Guincho a Cascais, vicino Lisbona, dopo che negli anni passati la festa si era celebrata in Turchia, Italia, Grecia, Francia, Spagna e si è festeggiato anche l'arrivo del suo nuovo libro intitolato “Adulterio” presentato nella mattinata con una conferenza stampa ai giornalisti provenienti da ogni parte del mondo.

Il fascino di questi momenti così unici sta nel modo in cui Paulo sente e fa sentire questa giornata a tutti: riesce a trasmettere qualcosa di impalpabile che si può’ apprezzare anche quando, tornati a casa, dovrebbe essere già’ svanita nella quotidianità’ della vita reale.

Le poche ore passate con lui hanno realmente qualcosa di penetrante e, in un mondo di Glamour e di Luxury, diventano una sorta di “Spa dello Spirito” in cui ci si può’ rigenerare e depurare dopo settimane di Fashion Week, e possono servire a vedere il mondo attraverso uno spettro cromatico differente, che evidenzia quanto il senso della vita sia legato alle amicizie, alla condivisione, alla voglia e alla speranza della felicita’altrui.

Quest’anno più’ che mai, l’essenza di questo messaggio e’ arrivato forte e chiaro, attraverso un regalo fattoci da Paulo: l’anteprima del film ispirato alla sua Biografia “Não Pare na Pista”che ripercorre la sua incredibile vita e rende onore alla capacita’ di un uomo capace di toccare l’anima di chi lo ascolta.

Il film che ha preso il titolo una canzone di Paulo e Raul Seixas (famoso cantautore Brasiliano degli anni 70), e che si può tradurre con il significato di "sempre in pista", è l'essenza della forza di Paulo, la sua capacità, nonostante tutto, di essere sempre in pista nella vita e di correre per essa. Il film è la vita di Coelho dalla sua infanzia fino al momento realizzato di diventare uno scrittore, ma anche le difficoltà con la famiglia, la formazione del suo carattere, l'amicizia e la collaborazione con Raul con cui creo' brani di successo (Hà dez mil anos, Maluco Beleza), i suoi amori e le sfide che attraverso' fino a diventare quello che è oggi: un grande artista che sa trasmettere valori, sogni, amicizia.

Una grande storia, un grande uomo che nel bene e nel male è riuscito sempre a vedere in profondità l'esperienze che ha vissuto e ha saputo trarne valori e idee che lo hanno portato ad essere quello che è oggi. La sua umanità è forse il valore più importante, quello di cui ogni giorno sento di non poter fare a meno, e che traspare in ogni opera e in ogni suo discorso.

Puoi ascoltarlo parlare per ore, in differenti lingue, e forse per quel suo timbro di voce unico e particolare, o per quel modo delicato di raccontare o di affrontare un'argomento, riesce sempre a catturarti e a tirar fuori il meglio che c'è in te e a farlo sentire vivo e pulsante nella tua stessa esistenza.
